Gilleleje habour has been a fishing harbour for the last 100 years.
As opposed to a lot of other harbours on Zeeland, this one is still
characterized by being an active work scene for the local fishermen,
which means that fresh fish can be bought almost at any time of
the day directly from the boats.
In Gilleleje harbour the relaxed tourist life blends in with the
daily duties of the fishermen in a wonderful setting of sailing
boats from all over Europe, colourful fishing boats and beautiful
old houses with old fashioned thatched roofs and "gossip benches".
Havhøkeren has been a part of this harbour environment for
over 25 years, and during this time it was always a real "fisherman's
shop". In this shop you could get almost everything that belonged
to the fishing trade, and by the end of the day the fishermen would
gather in the back of the shop to share the latest gossip or tell
their "tales of the sea".
Today Havhøkeren is still very much a fisherman's shop, but
has chosen to broaden the range of products to meet the needs of
outdoor life in general. In addition to this the shop also aims
to offer both clothes and products relevant to the many tourists
that visit the beautiful Gilleleje every year. For a more specific
description of the product range, please visit the link "products".
Because Havhøkeren is a part of the ever so active scene
of the Gilleleje harbour, the shop is open every day of the week.
The four employees in the shop are always ready to assist you as
best they can in both Danish, English and German.
